Affordable Housing
The Milton Housing Authority was established to provide and maintain safe, sanitary and affordable housing for low and moderate income persons and families. The Milton Housing Authority owns and manages 39 one bedroom units of senior/disabled housing located at 65 Miller Avenue. The Milton Housing Authority also owns and operates 12 three bedroom family units at scattered site locations.
The Milton Housing Authority also administers 144 Federal Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers. The HCV program is operated by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The program offers rent subsidies to persons of low income, which allows them to acquire apartments in private developments or houses. Program participant pays 30% of their adjusted income and the Milton Housing Authority pays the difference between the amount of the voucher and the monthly rent.
