Who qualifies as a Milton resident?
Any applicant who lives in Milton on the date of the application, the date of the screening, and the date of the final certification. This definition excludes temporary residence in Milton or temporary residence with relatives or friends in Milton at the time of application.
Also, any person employed or about to be employed in Milton on the date of the application and the date of final certification.
Who qualifies for elderly housing?
A head of household or spouse or sole member who is at least 60 years of age.
Who qualifies as disabled?
For purposes of admission to public housing a person of any age who has a documented disability that is recognized by DHCD.
Who qualifies for the Veteran Preference?
A person who has served in the U.S. Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard or Air Force for not less than 90 days service, at least one of which was active duty during wartime.
Who qualifies as a family for the purpose of State Aided Family Housing?
Two or more persons sharing residency whose income and resources meet the state regulations for family’s needs and who are related by blood or marriage. A family may include unrelated persons who will live regularly as part of the family.
What is the income eligibility?
To be eligible to live in state aided public housing, a household must typically earn the guidelines set by DHCD. To be eligible to live in federal Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program, a household must typically earn the guidelines as set by HUD. The eligibility may be found on their respective websites.
